"Uma flor de verde pinho" ("A green-pine flower") was the Portuguese entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1976, performed in Portuguese by Carlos do Carmo. The song is a ballad, with do Carmo comparing his love for his country with the love he would feel for a beautiful woman. He goes as far as to liken himself to Pedro I, famous in Portuguese history for his status as a lover. The song was performed fifteenth on the night, following Austria's Waterloo & Robinson with "My Little World" and preceding Monaco's Mary Christy with "Toi, la musique et moi". At the close of voting, it had received 24 points, placing 12th in a field of 18. It was succeeded as Portuguese representative at the 1977 contest by Os Amigos with "Portugal no coração".
